Fed: Second airport delay fails residents, No Aircraft Noise

An airport lobby group says the federal government's failed to protect long-suffering
residents from growing aircraft noise by delaying a decision on Sydney's second airport.

An aviation white paper released today has dumped Badgery's Creek as a site for a second
airport and established a joint taskforce with the NSW government to find a different
site.

But that committee won't report back until mid-2011.

ALLAN REES from No Aircraft Noise says the white paper's a failure because it doesn't
provide adequate capacity for Sydney's aviation needs .. and has failed to protect Sydney
residents from increasing noise from the overloaded current airport.
