--RIM to pre-instal 7digital music store on PlayBook

9 March 2011 - 7digital has signed a deal with Research in Motion (TSE:RIM) to provide music for its new tablet PlayBook, the Financial Times reports.
Owners of the new tablet will have access to 13m tracks through 7digital, which will be pre-installed on PlayBook.

The UK-based group is already the biggest music store on RIM's BlackBerry platform so its existing customers' music on any platform could be synchronised to the PlayBook.

The deal is part of RIM's efforts to show that its tablet has software and services, which could match those of Apple's iPad ahead of the new product's launch in the USA, the UK and Canada in the next moths.
