Fed:Commonwealth-state reform common theme at summit: Morgan

One of the big ideas coming out of the 2020 summit is for an independent commission
to oversee the functions of commonwealth and state governments.

Former Westpac boss DAVID MORGAN .. who's co-chairing the economics group .. says there's
a need to move to a truly national .. seamless economy .. and to get away from duplication
at state and federal level.

He says a federal commission would give COAG initiatives from the premiers and prime
minister .. a greater chance of being implemented.

His group also supports a broad-based tax review .. and a major infrastructure program
that'll allow a greater mix of private and public input.
