NT: NT govt disappointed with Commonwealth Grants estimates
DARWIN, Feb 26 AAP - The Northern Territory government said today it was disappointedin the latest recommendations for dividing up GST revenue to the states and territories.
NT Treasurer Syd Stirling said the Commonwealth Grants Commission 2003 Update - whenconsidered alongside the territory's declining population - shows the region may onlybe entitled to an extra $13.6 million in commonwealth grants next financial year.
The commission's findings are based on population and the ability of each state andterritory to raise their own revenue.
