Three-day laptop fair begins in city

Dhaka, June 12 -- The government is working hard to reach the technology and digital devices at the people's doorsteps, said Architect Yafesh Osman, State minister for Science and Information Technology. He was addressing as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the three-day Qubee Summer Laptop Fair 2011 at BICC on Friday. Among others, Munir Hasan, Advisor, Information and Technology ministry, Nehal Ahmed, Chief Marketing Officer of Qubee and Fabian Khan, Coordinator of Qubee Summer Laptop Fair 2011, were present on the occasion. Yafesh Osman said the people of Bangladesh have already understood that their living standard can only be improved through proper use of technology. Over 74 million mobile users in the country are a proof it, he added. The minister further said the people of the country need mobile devices to subscribe to the digital services brought to them by the government. He requested the organisers to initiate such fairs outside Dhaka on regular basis. Munir Hasan said youth of our country can do a lot of good things if they want. Their path is just needed to be widened and the government is doing just that, he added. Nehal Ahmed said Qubee is delighted to be the title sponsor for the laptop fair once again. It is committed to working with its partners in the ICT industry so that more people in the country can have access to internet services.
